VIERA, Florida -- WVU Tech softball won three and lost three in their final six games during the Space Coast Games March 10-12 in Florida. The Golden Bears now hold an overall record of 9-7 in 2023.
Tech won the first three -- 2-1 (8 Innings) vs. University of Saint Francis, 2-1 vs. University of Fort Lauderdale and 5-3 vs. Concordia University, and dropped the final three -- 1-2 vs. Lawrence Tech, 2-7 vs. Aquinas College and 4-8 vs. Indiana University South Bend.
Courtney Miles was 2-0 in the circle after 20.2 innings of work. Miles retired 16 opponents via strikes and finished with a 0.68 ERA.
Emma Crisswell threw to the other W for the Gold and Blue. Over three appearances, she went 12.1 innings, striking out six and recording an ERA of 1.17.
Gracey Dearmon struck out two in 9.1 innings, giving up four earned runs.
In six games,
Scarlet Janney helped lead at the plate with five RBI, three hits, one homer and one double.
Makenzie Holley and
Tori Wells had two RBI each including Wells' first collegiate dinger that led to two runs.
Hailea Skeens finished with six hits while
Mackenzie Siersma and
Olivia Barnett had five each. Siersma knocked a long and a double while Barnett had a double, both finished with a RBI.
The Golden Bears will begin River States Conference play Friday and Saturday when they travel to face Point Park and Carlow respectively in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
