SOUTH CHARLESTON, West Virginia -- WVU Tech softball split doubleheaders with River States Conference (RSC) opponents Oakland City University (3-1, 4-5) and St. Mary-of-the-Woods College (3-7, 9-1 - 5 Innings) Monday and Tuesday at Little Creek Park. The Golden Bears now hold an overall record of 13-11 and are 3-3 in conference play.
In the W over Oakland City,
Emma Crisswell earned the pitching victory after 6.0 innings of work, four strike outs and one earned run.
Courtney Miles recorded the save in the same game after 1.0 inning, three strike outs and one hit. Miles also earned a victory in the circle Tuesday versus the Polmeroys, throwing a complete game towards 10 strike outs and just two hits.
Nicole Kester helped lead at the plate over four games for the Gold and Blue, tallying six hits including two triples and a double. Kester recorded four RBI and two runs scored.
Tori Wells finished with five hits towards a team-high .556 batting average over two days. Wells posted two doubles, three RBI and three runs scored.
The two long balls were credited to
Macy Wilkens who finished with a total of four hits, four RBI, two runs scored and a 1.000 slugging percentage.
Brianna Stevenson also had a multi-hit two days, posting three hits, two doubles, a RBI and a run scored.
Kester, Wilkens and
Gabrielle Pyles had a stolen base each.
The Golden Bears will return to Little Creek Park Friday, March 31 when they host Ohio Christian University for two more conference games.
