Golden Bears compete at River States Conference Championship

RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- WVU Tech women's and men's track and field competed at the River States Conference (RSC) Championship April 28-29 where both squads finished ninth overall.

On day one Carmen Camino Falcon won the steeplechase breaking her own school record by seven seconds with a time of 11:26. As the back-to-back champ in the steeplechase, Falcon earned a NAIA national qualifier 'B' standard. Falcon was fourth in the 1500 with a 5:02, surpassing another one of her school records. Falcon finished out the meet with a season-best 1:16.25 for ninth place in the 400m hurdles.

In the steeplechase for the men, Nathan Morton also had a podium showing, finishing third with a season-best of 10:14.

Samuel Whitcomb was third in the 5000m racewalk, crossing at 27:50.59 while Ivan Martinez was seventh in the event at 32:17.22.

Taylor Sexton and Amber Fleshman both posted personal bests in the 100m hurdles with times of 17.75 and 18.88 respectively. Fleshman also threw the javelin 18.79m and Sexton earned a college best time of 14.77 in the 100m dash.

Jessica York was 11th in the 10,000m run, earning a personal best in college by over 30 seconds with a 48:05.33.

Christian Saffouri set a lifetime best in the 1500 with a 4:47.81.

Timothy Reynolds threw the shot put and discus, posting a personal best in the latter with a 8.16 showing.
