FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- WVU Tech volleyball fell to (RV) Indiana Tech 0-3 (20-25, 18-25, 20-25) and (RV) Bethel University (Ind.) 0-3 (21-25, 22-25, 17-25) to finish out the two-day OnSet Tournament hosted by University of Saint Francis. The Golden Bears start 2023 with a record of 1-3.
Senior
Ana Muniz Rocandio (Oviedo, Asturias, Spain) led the attack with 17 kills and finished with a double-double including 16 digs over two matches. Muniz Rocandio also had four service aces, two assists and a block assist.
Senior
Julia McClanahan (Charleston, W.Va.) finished with 31 assists and 14 digs for the double-double. McClanahan also posted a service ace.Â
Sophomore
Giulia Colombo (Castelvetro di Modena, Italy) put down 12 kills and a block assist while picking up three digs Saturday.
Also hitting double-digits in kills was junior
Madison Boswell (Ronceverte, W.Va.) with ten kills to go with three digs and a block assist.
Freshman Marianna Oyola Rivera (Puerto Rico) dished out 17 assists and had four digs and two kills.
Sophomore
Nevaeh Wooding (White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.) recorded nine kills and two block assists while fellow classmate
Peydon Smith (Beaver, W.Va.) had eight kills and two digs.
Junior libero
Brooke Presley (Ghent, W.Va.) picked up 16 digs and had three assists while freshman
Ivana Burgos (Coamo, Puerto Rico) had 14 digs.
The Golden Bears will next host the Gold and Blue Scrimmage in Van Meter Gym Saturday, August 26 at 12 p.m. Volleyball alumni will also be joining WVU Tech during the scrimmage.
