MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- WVU Tech women's soccer opened the 2023 at Mount Vernon Nazarene University Saturday, falling 0-5.

The Golden Bears produced five shots on goal, 20 saves and three corner kicks.

Freshman Korinne Potter (Woodbridge, Va.) finished with two shots on frame.

Fellow freshmen Carson Barr (New Manchester, W.Va.), Sofia Filgueira (Spain) and Renee Julia Verheijde (Rhenen, Netherlands) posted a shot on goal each.

Sophomore Sandra Garcia Quilez (Zaragoza, Spain) made four saves and allowed three goals in the first 45 minutes. Freshman Sascha Pacheco (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) finished out the game protecting the net with 16 saves and two goals allowed.

The Gold and Blue's home opener is next when they play host to Georgetown College (Ky.) Thursday, August 24 at 5 p.m. in Paul Cline Stadium.
