BECKLEY, W.Va. -- WVU Tech women's soccer earned a 4-0 shutout against Blue Mountain Christian University Wednesday at Paul Cline Stadium. The Golden Bears are now 1-5-1 while the Toppers move to 2-4-1.
Freshman
Ares Canut (Altron, Catalunya, Spain) recorded the Gold and Blue's first score in the W, soaring it past the Toppers' keeper, Jordan Gates, unassisted in minute 20.
The next goal was also unassisted, coming from sophomore
Isabella Covarrubias (Mexico) just before halftime in the 44th minute.
Freshman
Carson Barr (New Manchester, W.Va.) started the scoring in the last 45 minutes with a quick goal off an assist from Canut (50').
The final goal of the match-up was posted in minute 86 when freshman
Maddie Lott (Fairmont, W.Va.) found the back of the net off the perfect pass from fellow classmate
Emilia Botto (Lima, Peru).
Sophomore
Sandra Garcia Quilez (Zaragoza, Spain) earned the W protecting the net, making six saves while allowing zero goals in 90 minutes.
The Golden Bears will kick off on River States Conference (RSC) play next when they host Midway University Thursday, September 21 in Beckley.
