BECKLEY, W.Va. -- WVU Tech men's soccer earned a 2-0 River States Conference (RSC) shutout against Indiana University Purdue University Columbus Saturday evening at Paul Cline Stadium. The Golden Bears elevate their record to 3-4-1, 2-0 (RSC) while the Crimson Pride moves to 5-3, 1-1 (RSC).
Freshman
Daniel Redondo (León, Spain) recorded his first collegiate goal and the Gold and Blue's first score of Saturday's match-up in minute 58 unassisted off his shot attempt rebound.
Fellow classmate
Lorenzo Grispello (Milano, Italy) also posted his first collegiate goal, soaring the ball past IUPUC's keeper, Jacob Kasarda, off an assist from freshman
Ollie Corris (Manchester, England) in minute 80.
Freshman
Ramon Ferrari (Nova Venécia, Espírito Santo, Brazil) made his collegiate debut protecting the net for Tech, marking one save in the complete clean sheet game.
Tech finished with 20 (8 SOG) shots including four on frame from Grispello, two from freshman
Adam Seams (Lewisburg, W.Va.) and one each from Redondo and freshman
Vasco Berardo (Lisboa, Portugal).
The Crimson Pride were held to just one shot while the Golden Bears also led on corner kicks, 7-3.
WVU Tech will next host Washington Adventist University for a non-conference contest Wednesday, September 27 at 7 p.m.
