BECKLEY, W.Va. -- WVU Tech men's soccer played to a 3-1 non-conference victory over Washington Adventist University Wednesday evening at Paul Cline Stadium. The Golden Bears have won three straight and now hold a record of 4-4-1 while the Shock moves to 7-3-1.
Freshman
Vasco Berardo (Lisboa, Portugal) recorded his third goal of the season in the first five minutes of the match-up, unassisted, to give Tech the 1-0 lead.
The Shock's only score came next and in the second half (57') from Ben Cooksley.
A penalty kick was awarded to the Gold and Blue in minute 63 where junior
Layomi Ogunfowora (Nigeria) converted and sailed the ball past Washington Adventist keeper Gregorio Capponi to give the Golden Bears the lead again, 2-1.
Sophomore
Juan Minguez Malonda (Oliva, Valencia, Spain) posted the final goal of the game with just 20 seconds left on the clock off an assist from fellow classmate
Conrad Ryu Eriksson (Tokyo, Japan).
Freshman
Ramon Ferrari (Nova Venécia, Espírito Santo, Brazil) recorded his second W in goal this season, making one save and allowing one goal in 90 minutes of play.
The Golden Bears out shot their opponent 14(7)-5(2) while dominating on the corners, 9-4.
WVU Tech will return to River States Conference (RSC) play when they travel to Brescia University this Friday for a 2 p.m. contest.
