BECKLEY, W.Va. -- WVU Tech volleyball is enjoying a three-match winning streak in River States Conference (RSC) play after defeating Oakland City University 3-2 (21-25, 25-14, 21-25, 25-22, 15-10) Friday and Brescia University 3-0 (25-10, 25-21, 25-20) Saturday. The Golden Bears boost their record to 10-10 overall and are 6-2 in RSC action now.
Senior
Julia McClanahan (Charleston, W.Va.) finished with 79 assists at 9.88 assists per set. McClanahan also recorded 15 digs, seven kills, five service aces and two total blocks over two matches.
The attack was led by senior
Ana Muniz Rocandio (Oviedo, Asturias, Spain) and junior
Madison Boswell (Ronceverte, W.Va.) who had 22 kills each. Muniz Rocandio picked up a team-best 42 digs while Boswell had six digs.
As Tech's libero, junior
Brooke Presley (Shady Spring, W.Va.) posted 36 digs and eight assists. Sophomore
Yukari Furuichi Blanchard (Kearneysville, W.Va.) tallied 20 digs while
Marianna Oyola Rivera (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) had 15 digs over two matches.
Oyola Rivera also put away 19 kills while sophomoreÂ
Nevaeh Wooding (White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.) finished with 15 and fellow classmate
Emily Stack (Beckley, W.Va.) had 13 kills. Wooding led the way with five total blocks including four solos.
Up next, the team will celebrate seniors when they host Alice Lloyd College Tuesday, October 3 at 7 p.m. in Van Meter Gym.
