WILSON, N.C. -- WVU Tech softball opened its 2024 campaign with a doubleheader Saturday at NCAA DII Barton College. The Golden Bears dropped the first game 9-0 (5 Innings) before dropping a 10-3 decision in the series finale.
Senior
Scarlet Janney (Pearisburg, Va.) had a multi-hit series, tallying three including a double while scoring a run.
Freshman
Sydney Sheets (Danese, W.Va.)Â recorded two RBI off a double in game two. Junior
Macy Wilkens (Greenville, Ind.) tallied a RBI in the same game off a double.
In game one senior
Taylor Dickerson (Mt. Lookout, W.Va.) drew the start in the circle, throwing for 3.2 innings and four strike outs in the loss. Dickerson also pitched in the final game for 2.2 innings, striking out three batters.
Freshman
Kaylie Lawrence (Greenup, Ky.) started on the rubber in game two, working for 2.2 innings towards a strike out.
The Golden Bears will be back on the field tomorrow, Sunday when they travel to Chowan University for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
