BECKLEY, W.Va. -- No. 4-seed WVU Tech men's basketball defeated No. 5 Indiana University Kokomo 83-66 in a quarterfinal of the River States Conference (RSC) Championship Wednesday in the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center.
As a team, Tech was a perfect 10-for-10 (100.0 percent) from the bonus stripe while shooting an efficient 29-for-50 (58.0 percent) from the floor and 15-for-30 (50.0 percent) from beyond the arc. The Golden Bear defense held the Cougars to just a 7-for-27 (25.9 percent) effort from three and 26-for-55 (47.3 percent) effort from the field.

Ashton Parker (Rock Hill, S.C.) produced a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds while adding six assists, four blocks and an assist in 27 minutes of play.
Freshman
Braden Chapman (Beaver, W.Va.) nailed five three's towards a game-best 21 points to go with seven assists, two steals and two rebounds.

Cameron Danser (Morgantown, W.Va.) recorded four three's while sophomore
Brant Smithers (Williamstown, Ky.) had three three's and both ended with 15 points. Smithers also finished with four rebounds, four steals and two assists while Danser dished an assist.

Liam Craven (Brantford, Ontario, Canada) hit three three's towards nine points while sophomore
Thomas Hailey (Monroe, N.C.) and freshman
Cole Chapman (Beaver, W.Va.) had four points each. C. Chapman also added six boards, four assists and a steal for the Gold and Blue.
WVU Tech (18-9)Â will next travel to No. 1 Point Park University (27-2) for a semifinal of the RSC Championship Saturday, March 2. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
