OAKLAND CITY, Ind. -- WVU Tech softball split River States Conference (RSC) doubleheaders Sunday and Monday, first at Brescia University (0-12 | 7-3) followed by Oakland City University (3-2 | 9-15). The Golden Bears now hold a record of 5-8 overall and are 2-2 in conference action.
Junior
Macy Wilkens (Greenville, Ind.) led the way at the plate over four games, finishing with six hits including two doubles, four RBI and two runs scored.Â
In the circle senior
Taylor Dickerson (Mt. Lookout, W.Va.) picked up both wins, pitching a total of 15.2 innings for the Gold and Blue. Dickerson retired ten batters via strikes and walked seven.
Freshmen
Kaylie Lawrence (Greenup, Ky.) and
Trista Marcum (Williamson, W.Va.) struck out four each, pitching 4.2 and 3.2 innings respectively.
Freshman
Abby Gates (West Columbia, S.C.) had five hits including two doubles, two RBI and one run scored.
Garnering three hits each over the two series were sophomore
Olivia Barnett (Shady Spring, W.Va.), senior
Scarlet Janney (Pearisburg, Va.) and freshman
Sydney Sheets (Danese, W.Va.). Barnett and Janney both had doubles while Janney and Sheets knocked a homer each.
Junior
Emily Hutchinson (Huntington, W.Va.) was 2-for-4 at the plate towards two RBI and a run scored.
