BECKLEY, W.Va. -- WVU Tech softball fell to Point Park University 7-6 then 9-1 in a River States Conference (RSC) doubleheader Thursday. The Golden Bears are now 10-27, 6-20 (RSC) while the Pioneers hold a record of 19-17, 12-12 (RSC).
Junior
Macy Wilkens (Greenville, Ind.) and freshman
Abby Gates (West Columbia, S.C.) led the way at the plate for Tech, hitting two bombs each towards two runs scored apiece and three and two RBI respectively.Â
Freshman
Kaylie Lawrence (Greenup, Ky.) and senior
Scarlet Janney (Pearisburg, Va.) both knocked a home run in the series, plating a run each.
Sophomore
Olivia Barnett (Shady Spring, W.Va.) and sophomore
Meghan Gill (Victor, W.Va.) finished with a multi-hit day, both recording two including two doubles from Gill and a run scored from Barnett.
In the circle, the Golden Bears saw action first from Gill who threw 5.0 innings to start the doubleheader. Senior
Taylor Dickerson (Mt. Lookout, W.Va.) finished out game one and pitched a complete game two towards a total of six strike outs.Â
