BECKLEY, W.Va. -- WVU Tech softball split a River States Conference (RSC) doubleheader with Ohio Christian University with scores of 2-3 and 14-6 (5 Innings) at Fitzpatrick Park Saturday. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 11-28, 7-21 (RSC) while the Trailblazers move to 14-24, 12-16 (RSC).
The team celebrated their seniors
Makenzie Holley (Sophia, W.Va.),
Scarlet Janney (Pearisburg, Va.),
Kyleigh Jackson (Hico, W.Va),
McKayla Bartley (Parhump, N.J.) and
Maggie Richards (Parkersburg, W.Va.) between games in front of friends and family.
Senior
Taylor Dickerson (Mt. Lookout, W.Va.) earned the W in the circle, striking out one in 5.0 innings of work. Sophomore
Meghan Gill (Victor, W.Va.) put in 7.0 innings of work towards a strike out in game one.
Sophomore
Olivia Barnett (Shady Spring, W.Va.) had a standout day at the plate with five hits including three double-baggers and a home run towards four RBI and three runs scored.
Janney and freshman
Kaylie Lawrence (Greenup, Ky.) drove in four runs each over two games, both knocking long balls and recording three and four hits respectively.
Holley and junior
Macy Wilkens (Greenville, Ind.) also had multi-hit days, recording four and two respectively while tallying a RBI each. Wilkens also had one of Tech's four homers of the series.
The Golden Bears will hit the road to finish out the regular season with four more games beginning at Shawnee State University Friday, April 26.
