BECKLEY, W.Va. — No. 19 WVU Tech men's soccer remained unbeaten in 2025 with a 4–1 victory over the (RV) University of Rio Grande Thursday evening in River States Conference action at Paul Cline Stadium.
The Golden Bears (11-0-2, 6-0 RSC) extended their winning streak to nine matches and their unbeaten stretch to 13 straight, maintaining control of the top spot in the league standings.
Recalde leads the way again
Freshman Julen Recalde continued his torrid scoring pace, striking twice (15', 71') and assisting on Nicholas Ihnat's 29th-minute goal. Gonzalo Sabeh added the third goal of the opening half in the 36th minute, helping Tech build a 3–1 lead at the break after Rio's lone goal in the 37th minute.
Sabeh also tallied an assist on Recalde's second goal in the 71st minute to seal the match.
Key numbers
Tech put five of its eight total shots on frame, converting four of them. Recalde registered three shots on goal, while Ihnat and Sabeh each added one.
Defensively, senior keeper Luka Felix turned away seven shots to preserve the win as the Golden Bears held off a strong second-half push from Rio Grande.
