The WVU Tech Athletic Department has announced its Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for Dec. 1–7, 2025. This week’s honors go to freshman forward Julen Recalde and senior goalkeeper Luka Felix of men’s soccer, who delivered pivotal performances across all three NAIA National Championship matches in Orange Beach.

Julen Recalde (San Sebastian, Spain — Freshman Forward)

Recalde produced one of the strongest postseason weeks in program history, totaling three goals and one assist while impacting all three tournament victories. He scored the game-winner in Tuesday’s 2–1 win over No. 21 Ottawa, added a goal and an assist in Thursday’s 4–0 victory over No. 17 Indiana Tech, and assisted the decisive strike in Saturday’s 2–1 win vs. No. 7 MidAmerica Nazarene. Recalde finished the week with seven points, nine shots on goal and one game-winner, helping the Golden Bears advance to the NAIA National Semifinals.

Luka Felix (Portugal — Senior Goalkeeper)

Felix anchored a dominant defensive week, posting a 0.67 goals-against average, 13 saves and a clean sheet across three neutral-site wins. He opened with five saves in the 2–1 victory over Ottawa, turned in five more during Tech’s 4–0 shutout of Indiana Tech, and added three key stops — including late-match denials — to secure the 2–1 win over MidAmerica Nazarene. Felix’s composure and shot-stopping presence were vital in pushing WVU Tech to a perfect 3–0 week and a place among the nation’s final four teams.
