Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for September 8-14, 2025, were announced Monday by the WVU Tech Athletic Department. Earning the spotlight this week are sophomore Alvaro Iglesias Pascual (golf) and freshman RocÃo Gutiérrez (women’s soccer)
Iglesias, a native of Castellón, Spain, turned in an impressive performance at the Maggie Mountain Invite, firing a second-round 70 (E) to close at +4 (144). His steady play earned him a tie for 3rd place overall in the individual standings.
Gutiérrez, who hails from Madrid, Spain, made an immediate impact on the pitch. She tallied a goal and an assist—contributing three points—in Tech’s commanding 3-0 shutout win over Carolina University. The freshman standout finished her week with two shots on frame, powering the Golden Bears to victory.
