BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — WVU Tech women's soccer extended its winning streak to three matches Saturday, defeating Bluefield State 3-1 at the East River Soccer Complex.
Sofia Filgueira put the Golden Bears on the board in the 15th minute with her first goal of the season. The Big Blues equalized late in the first half on a penalty kick before Tech responded after the break. Nora Martin-Mora Segura tallied the go-ahead goal in the 56th minute, and Julia Silva sealed the victory with a strike in the final seconds, assisted by freshman Rocío Gutiérrez.
Tech outshot Bluefield State 28-15, including a 16-6 advantage in shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Sandra Garcia Quilez stopped five shots to earn the win.
Opponent highlights: Bluefield State's Carmen Galante scored on a first-half penalty, while goalkeeper Kaycee Coty collected 13 saves.
