BECKLEY, W.Va. - WVU Tech men's basketball turned in one of its sharpest offensive nights of the season Saturday, pulling away early and cruising to an 83-68 River States Conference (RSC) win over Oakland City University at the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center.
The Golden Bears improved to 8-13 overall and 5-6 in RSC play, while Oakland City moved to 9-14 overall and 4-7 in conference action.
WVU Tech set the tone immediately, building a 40-26 halftime lead and never trailing. The Golden Bears stayed hot after the break, pushing the margin to as many as 24 points in the second half and finishing the day at 57.1 percent from the field, 52.0 percent from 3-point range and 82.4 percent at the foul line.
Tech's home win came with an added bonus for fans, as the victory unlocked a free Chicken Biscuit in the Chick-fil-A App at the Beckley Galleria.
Golden Bear Highlights
Trayten Woods led all scorers with 28 points, knocking down eight 3-pointers and finishing 9-of-13 from the floor.
Roman Kellum added 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting off the bench, helping WVU Tech's reserves account for 32 points.
Ian Goings chipped in 10 points to go with six rebounds and five assists, while Jackson Tackett finished with eight points and a team-high seven assists.
