The WVU Tech Athletic Department has announced its Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for Jan. 26 – Feb. 1, 2026. This week’s honors go to freshmen Maggie Boroski (women's basketball) and Trayten Woods (men's basketball) following strong conference performances.
Maggie Boroski (Peterstown, W.Va.)
Boroski provided a steady offensive spark for the Golden Bears during a two-game conference week, leading the team with 24 points while shooting 44.0 percent from the field. She was aggressive on the glass, pulling down 13 rebounds, including 11 offensive rebounds, helping WVU Tech generate second-chance opportunities.
The freshman guard also contributed defensively and played with consistent energy throughout the week, continuing to establish herself as a key presence in the Golden Bears’ rotation.
Trayten Woods (Hazard, Ky.)
Woods turned in an efficient and impactful performance during WVU Tech’s home conference split, scoring a team-high 36 points while shooting 60.0 percent from the field and 75.0 percent from three-point range. He was a major factor in the Golden Bears’ win over Oakland City, knocking down nine 3-pointers and helping fuel the offense.
The freshman guard also added 12 rebounds, three assists and two steals across the week, showcasing his ability to contribute on both ends of the floor during key conference matchups.
