BECKLEY, W.Va. — WVU Tech wrestling earned two individual wins Friday night inside Van Meter Gym, highlighted by a lightning-quick pin from senior Maxwell Underwood, but the Golden Bears fell 40-9 to receiving-votes Montreat in dual action.
Underwood delivered the moment of the night at 285 pounds, securing a fall in 0:01 against Reese Ferm to put six points on the board for Tech. Sophomore Troy Harris added the Golden Bears' other victory at 141, winning a 14-8 decision over Louis MeHaffey in a fast-paced bout.
WVU Tech also faced ranked opposition in the dual. At 125, freshman David Maxson wrestled No. 25 Kane Bryson, and at 149, junior Corbyn Cunningham drew No. 17 Boedi Kirkland.
In exhibition matches, the Golden Bears continued to show fight, with freshman Adams S. Turpin-Abdulrazaaq Jr. earning a 15-4 major decision over Grayson Burleson.
