The WVU Tech Athletic Department has announced its Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for March 30–April 5, 2026. This week’s honors go to junior JJ Polvinale (baseball) and sophomore Taylor Scott (softball) following standout performances in collegiate competition.
JJ Polvinale (Ranson, W.Va.)
Polvinale led the Golden Bears offensively across four games, batting .429 (6-for-14) while reaching base at a .500 clip. The junior infielder scored a team-high four runs and added two RBIs, providing a consistent spark at the top of the lineup. Polvinale’s ability to get on base and generate scoring opportunities played a key role in WVU Tech’s offensive production throughout the week, including the team’s 10-run effort in its win over Bluefield.
Taylor Scott (Beaver, W.Va.)
Scott anchored the Golden Bears in the circle during a four-game stretch, posting a 1-1 record with a team-best 2.88 ERA across 17.0 innings pitched. The sophomore right-hander recorded nine strikeouts and maintained a 1.00 WHIP while throwing two complete games. Scott earned the win in WVU Tech’s 6-5 victory over Midway, delivering a strong outing that secured the team’s lone win of the week.
