KOKOMO, Ind. — WVU Tech volleyball found its strongest rhythm in the second set Friday, working through eight ties and eight lead changes in its conference opener before Indiana University Kokomo earned a 3-0 decision at the Student Activities & Events Center.
The Golden Bears (0-13, 0-1) fell 25-8, 25-19, 25-14. After the opening set, Tech responded with its best offensive stretch of the match in the second, putting down 11 kills with just three attack errors on 30 swings for a .267 hitting percentage.
The second set remained tight throughout, featuring eight ties and eight lead changes before IU Kokomo took the frame 25-19.
Aniston Treadway paced the Golden Bear attack with six kills and added four digs. Treadway also recorded Tech's lone solo block and finished with a team-high seven points.
Addison White turned in another productive all-around performance, finishing with 13 assists, eight digs and three kills. White was especially efficient offensively, putting down all three kills without an error on five attempts for a .600 hitting percentage.
Freshman Maura O'Niell added four kills without an attack error on 16 swings to hit .250 and collected four digs. Lucia Orcajo and Ashlinn Sullivan each contributed three kills, with Orcajo adding three digs.
Defensively, Ivana Burgos matched White with a team-high eight digs while adding four assists and both of Tech's service aces. Freshman Macie Smith chipped in three digs and two assists in two sets.
As a team, WVU Tech finished with 22 kills, 19 assists, 36 digs and two service aces while hitting .110 for the match. That .110 hitting percentage was the Golden Bears' third-highest mark in a match this season, trailing only .146 against Lawrence Tech and .117 at Bluefield.

WVU Tech remains on the road Saturday, Sept. 12, with a 1 p.m. match at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Saint Mary of the Woods, Ind.
