The WVU Tech Athletic Department has announced its Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for February 2-8, 2026. This week’s honors go to freshman Alaira Evans (women’s basketball) and senior Maxwell Underwood (wrestling) following standout performances in conference and dual competition.

Alaira Evans (Chapmanville, W.Va.)

Evans delivered a strong offensive presence for the Golden Bears during a perfect 2–0 conference week, leading the team with 35 total points while shooting an efficient 65.2 percent from the field. The freshman forward was effective inside and out, grabbing six boards and recording a block.
