MEDINA, Saudia Arabia — Leon Cooper, Jr., a Freeport, Bahamas native and WVU Tech basketball alum, has signed a professional player's contract with Ohud Medina (a.k.a. Uhud Medina) in Saudi Arabia. The team is based in the city of Medina in the Al Medinah Province. The professional basketball team competes in the Saudi Arabia Premier League and has won 16 league titles, with the most recent championship coming in 2015. Ohud Medina's continued excellence makes them the most successful organization in the Saudi Arabia Premier League.

Cooper, originally a transfer from the University of Maine, averaged 14.4 points per game while dishing out 4.1 assists per contest for WVU Tech during the 2014-15 season.  Leon also grabbed 3.3 rebounds per outing as he helped guide the Golden Bears to their first national tournament appearance since 1988. He was honored in the post-season by being named as an Honorable Mention USCAA All-American and was also an A.I.I. Second-Team All-Conference selection for the Golden Bears. Cooper also represented his country in the CBC Championships in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, during this summer and helped that squad to a second-place finish.

Leon was the recipient of the WVU Tech men's basketball Scholar-Athlete Award both years in which he was a student at WVU Tech. He was also a member of the Sports Studies Majors Club.

Leon Cooper, Jr., graduated with a Bachelor's degree from WVU Tech in May 2015.
