MONTGOMERY, West Virginia — The WVU Tech men's and women's basketball teams will begin their 2015-16 campaigns Saturday afternoon to help celebrate Homecoming in Montgomery, West Virginia. Action in the Baisi Athletic Center will start at 2 p.m. when the women face the University of Northwestern (Ohio) followed by the men taking on NCAA DII foe West Virginia State University at 4 p.m.

WVU Tech Women's Basketball vs. University of Northwestern (Ohio)
COACHES- Tech head coach Jenna Everhart begins her sixth season at WVU Tech where she earned her 50th win as a head coach last season.
- Mike Armbruster starts his first season at Northwestern. He was previously an assistant for the school's men's squad.
RECORDS- The Golden Bears are coming off a 16-15 campaign last season and were picked to finish fourth in their new conference's (KIAC) Colonial Division and sixth overall in the KIAC.
- The Racers also finished 16-15 in 2014-15 as they lost in the quarterfinal of the WHAC Tournament.
GOLDEN BEAR NOTES- Everhart is 2-2 in her three previous season openers including a 91-85 loss to the University of Pikeville to start last season.
- The team enters their first season into the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) in the Colonial Division.
- Tech was voted fourth in the Colonial Division and sixth overall in the KIAC in the Coaches' Preseason Poll.
- Senior center Rocio Ruiz-Berdejo finished last year No. 25 in the NAIA with 3.4 offensive rebounds per game.
- A season ago, senior Cheyanna Lusk was No. 32 in the league with 62 steals.
- The Golden Bears return a double-figure scorer from last season in Lusk (12.1 points per game).
- Sophomore center Emily Brown comes to Tech from the University of Rio Grande.
- Everhart also brought in freshmen Savannah Shamblin, Breanna Propst, Alexandria Humphreys, Alexandra Combs and Tiffany Reavis.
SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN RACERS- The Racers return their two top scorers in seniors Madison Coldren (15.6 ppg) and Sammi Dervisevic (11.3 ppg).
- Northwestern posted a 7-6 record on the road last year including winning three of their last four contests.
UP NEXTThe Golden Bears will host Bluefield College (Virginia) November 3 in the Baisi Athletic Center.

COACHES
- Bob Williams has been Tech's head coach since 2002. Williams has guided the Golden Bears to 201 wins in his time at Tech.
- Bryan Poore became West Virginia State's head coach in 1999 leading the program to a record of 280-166 in that time
RECORDS
- Tech earned runners-up in the A.I.I. Championship last season going 23-10 including tournament play, receiving an at-large bid to the NAIA DI National Championships.
- The Yellow Jackets finished 6-25 in 2014-15.
GOLDEN BEAR NOTES
- The team enters their first season into the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) in the Colonial Division.
- WVU Tech was picked fourth in the KIAC Colonial division with 38 points and seventh overall in the conference.
- Tech returns one starter from last season in junior point guard Ra'Shaud Kincaid. Kincaid finished No. 2 (NAIA DI) in assist/turnover ratio (3.513) last season and No. 8 in three-point field goal percentage (.450).
- Last year to open the season, Kincaid had nine points and seven assists.
- Junior guard transfer (Louisburg College) Paul Stone, who is 6-6, will make an impact for Tech during their 2015-16 campaign.
- In Tech's last four season openers they have been a perfect 4-0.
SCOUTING WEST VIRGINIA STATE
- The Yellow Jackets, part of the Mountain East Conference, allowed their opponents an average of 84.1 ppg last season.
- West Virginia State was 3-13 on the road in 2014-15.
