LAST GAME
  • Trailed No. 17 (NAIA DI) University of Pikeville most of a game that ended in a Golden Bear victory, 77-70.
  • Tech didn't gain a lead until the clock had 7:26 left in the contest and the team proceeded to go on an 18-11 run over their opponent including 11 points scored by sophomore Alexandra Combs towards her 18-point night.
  • Sophomore Savannah Shamblin led the game with 19 points and five steals in 31 minutes of play.
  • Senior Cheyanna Lusk finished with a perfect 4-for-4 effort from the foul line towards her 13 points and recorded seven rebounds.
  • Junior Zjhane West pulled down a team-high nine rebounds to go with eight points and four assists for the Golden Bears.
  • As a team, Tech shot 32-for-73 (43.8 percent) from the field while their defense held the Bears to a 28-for-74 (37.8 percent) effort.
  • The teams were even with 14 miscues while Tech held the advantage in points in the paint (46-40) and fast break points (6-4).

LAST GAME
  • WVU Tech (2-1) defeated Point University (1-4) Saturday afternoon 117-80 in front of a Homecoming crowd and Head Coach Bob Williams moved into second place on Tech's all-time win list in men's basketball. 
  • Williams' 219 wins surpasses the late Tom Sutherland (218 wins), who had tremendous success on the Montgomery campus in the 1980's.
  • Tech saw double-digit scoring from five Golden Bears including a 11-for-16 effort from the field for junior Elisha Boone towards his 26 points.
  • Fellow classmate Ryan Atkins went 9-for-12 from the field and 4-for-5 from the bonus line, ending with 23 points after 33 minutes of play.
  • The other big offensive contributors for the Golden Bears included junior Michael Scott (18), freshman Junior Arrey (13) and junior Enson Garcia (13).
  • On the boards, Scott pulled down a game-high eight rebounds while Boone and junior Kievonn Banks had six each.
  • Garcia grabbed five boards.
  • Boone led the team with five assists while junior Cole Schoolcraft and Arrey dished four each.
  • The Gold and Blue finished 42-for-68 (61.8 percent) from the field while the Skyhawks shot 23-for-55 (41.8 percent).
  • As a team, Tech held the advantage in points off turnovers (24-22), second chance points (17-16), bench points (47-21), points in the paint (60-28) and fast break points (6-4).
  • WVU Tech also held the advantage on rebounds (40-29) while forcing 19 miscues and grabbing eight steals.

LAST MEET
  • For the first time this season, WVU Tech women's swimming took the victory in a dual Saturday against Alderson Broaddus, 111-65.
  • Highlights for the women include sophomore Isabela Kiesewetter Zandavalli first place finishes in the 100 Backstroke (1:03.07) and 1000 Freestyle (11:44.81) while fellow classmate Mariana Loureiro was first in the 500 Free (5:52.21) and the 200 Freestyle (2:05.06).
  • Senior Francine Meyer achieved first with a time of 1:01.45 in the 100 Butterfly while also touching first in the 50 Free with a time of 25.37.
  • Sophomore Kendra Monnin swam to top finishes in the 200 IM, touching at 2:18.32 and the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:15.51.
  • The 400 Medley Relay team of Zandavalli, Loureiro, Meyer and Monnin finished first by clocking a time of 4:16.56.
  • Men's swimming team won both relays and eight of the nine individual events on their way to a 150-40 victory over the Battlers of Alderson Broaddus University Saturday.
  • The Golden Bears are still perfect in duals, 3-0 for their 2016-17 campaign.
  • The 400 Medley Relay team of sophomore Arthur Bertrand, freshman Paulo Ignacio, Jr., junior Geoffroy Gauneau and sophomore Kohen Kerr came in first with a time of 3:34.59.
  • The 400 Freestyle Relay had a winning time of 3:17.48 with a team that consisted of Ignacio, Kerr, freshman Manuel Laguna Gomez and junior Jesus Ballesteros.
  • Gauneau touched first in the 200 Freestyle (1:51.24) and the 100 Butterfly (54.01).
  • Gomez won the 1000 Freestyle in 9:36.03, Kerr took the top spot in the 100 Freestyle (48.85) and Ballesteros finished first in the 50 Freestyle (22.73).
  • In the 200 IM, Manuel Serrano Laguna took first with a time of 2:03.13. Ignacio (100 Breaststroke | 57.19) and freshman Felipe Ruiz (500 Freestyle | 5:00.0) also swam to first place finishes.

NEGRETE AT RSC CHAMPIONSHIP
  • Negrete led the way for the Golden Bears with a fourth place finish out of 83 competitors with a time of 26:58.3 at the River States Conference (RSC) Championship.
  • The Chino, California native advanced to the NAIA National Championships and earned a spot on the all-conference first team with his effort Saturday.

LAST COMPETITION
  • Junior Jephte Jeanpaul finished second at 157 to lead WVU Tech wrestling at the Casperson Classic hosted by Southern Virginia University Saturday.
  • The Golden Bears finished with 44 team points from five Golden Bears.
  • Jeanpaul scored two falls in the Classic, the first being in round one (1:07) and the second in the quarterfinal (7:00).
  • Freshman Justice Horn took fifth place at 285 and earned three falls on Saturday.
  • Horn's falls came at 2:33, 1:00 and 7:00.
  • Also competing for Tech included freshman Louis Bernard (157), junior Corey Palmer (157) and senior Jon Boarman (285).
  • Palmer posted falls at 1:42 and 7:00 in his effort at 157.

LAST GAME
  • WVU Tech, who is currently No. 9 in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll, fell to No. 3 University of Rio Grande in the River States Conference (RSC) Final Saturday evening, 2-1.
  • Tech struck first in the match-up, posting a goal from junior Francisco Neto off the assist of senior Daniel Ramirez in the 25th minute.
  • The teams' defense then held each other scoreless the rest of the half.
  • Rio's equalizer came with 38:07 left to play, following that up with the winning goal in the 63rd minute.
  • Tech finished with five shots, two on goal while the RedStorm managed 16 shots, six on goal in their victory.
  • Freshman Eduardo Gutierrez marked the second shot on goal for the Gold and Blue.
  • Senior goalkeeper Hunter Moles stopped four balls and allowed two goals in 90 minutes of play.
