- Won their last five River States Conference match-ups and their fourth consecutive contest after defeating the University of Rio Grande 82-69 Saturday afternoon.
- Tech is now second in the East Division of the conference, just a half a game back from No. 11 Indiana University East (16-5, 7-1 RSC).
- The next conference member out is Ohio Christian University (10-10, 4-3 RSC) who is 2.5 games back from the top spot.
- The Golden Bears were led by junior Elisha Boone who earned his sixth double-double of the season with a game-high 24 points, 11 rebounds effort. Boone finished 8-for-9 from the bonus line and 8-for-13 from the floor.
- Junior Michael Scott shot clean Saturday, finishing 6-for-6 from the field and 3-for-3 from beyond the arc towards his 15 points.
- Scott also pulled down eight boards.
- The RedStorm were led by Will Hill who had 23 points on 4-for-9 shooting from three-point range.
- As a team, the Gold and Blue finished 56.4 percent (31-for-55) from the field while Rio Grande was held to 40.3 percent (25-for-62) shooting.
- Tech outrebounded their opponent, 39-28 while also holding the advantage in bench points, 42-7.

- Senior Cheyanna Lusk finished with a career-high effort of 6-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc and WVU Tech women's basketball earned a huge River States Conference (RSC) win over the University of Rio Grande, 86-72, Saturday afternoon.
- The teams are both three games back and are in a three-way tie with Ohio Christian University (4-3, RSC) in the East Division of the conference.
- No. 21 Indiana University East (7-0, RSC) holds the top spot in the division while (RV) Point Park University (5-3, RSC) follows.
- Lusk also poured in 29 points for a career- and game-best in the victory to go with seven rebounds, three steals and two assists.
- The Cyclone, West Virginia native is currently ranked fourth in the conference with 2.25 steals per game.
- Sophomore Savannah Shamblin finished with a double-double effort of 16 points and a career-high 12 assists.
- Shamblin finished a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line and also had three rebounds and two steals.
- Junior Zjhane West also scored in double-digits for the Gold and Blue, posting 14 points while dishing five assists and pulling down four boards.
- The RedStorm were led by Jaida Carter and Jasmine Smith who had 14 points each.
- As a team, Tech finished 33-for-70 (47.1 percent) from the field while Rio Grande was held to just a 29-for-74 (39.2 percent) shooting from the floor.
- The RedStorm did hold the advantage in rebounds, 51-36 while the Golden Bears forced more turnovers, 22, compared to their 17 miscues.

LAST TOURNAMENT
- Senior Paul Gonzales finished third at 125 and WVU Tech ended the Jon Crytzer Invitational hosted by Washington & Lee sixth out of eight teams Saturday in Lexington, Virginia.
- Gonzales earned a fall (1:53) and major decision (11-2) towards his third place finish.
- Also earning placement in the invitational included senior Denis Robles (133 | fourth), freshmen Leland Swafford (149 | fourth) and Will Van Hoose (184 | fifth) and senior Terry Nance II (197 | fifth).
