LAST GAME
  • Earned their fourth consecutive win after defeating Indiana University Kokomo in River States Conference (RSC) action, 85-67.
  • The Gold and Blue are currently holding on to the No. 2 spot, with (RV) Ohio Christian University (8-4), in the East Division of the conference.
  • Both teams are three games back from No. 21 Indiana University East who has a RSC record of 11-1.
  • Junior Zjhane West had a standout game after finishing with 20 points, eight rebounds and five steals.
  • West finished 9-for-16 from the floor after 26 minutes of play.
  • Sophomore Savannah Shamblin led the team with 21 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 effort from the bonus line.
  • Shamblin also had five rebounds in the win.
  • Fellow classmate Alexandra Combs poured in 12 points including going 4-for-5 from beyond the arc.
  • The Southgate, Kentucky native is 9-for-13 from the three-point range in Tech's last two contests.
  • Combs also pulled down four boards and dished three assists for the Golden Bears.
  • Senior Cheyanna Lusk was the final player to post a double-digit game with ten points while also grabbing five rebounds.
  • Senior Brooke Gee finished with eight points and eight rebounds to help the team on their third consecutive road win.
  • IU Kokomo was led by Deja Felder who posted 21 points while Dejianna Butler led the Cougars with five rebounds.
  • As a team, Tech shot 51 percent (31-for-61) while the Cougars were held to just 37 percent (22-for-57) shooting from the floor.
  • The team dominated under the boards, marking 45 rebounds compared to their opponent's 23.
  • WVU Tech also shot sufficiently from three-point range (50 percent, 10-for-20) and at the free throw line (74 percent, 14-for-19).

LAST GAME
  • Has nine back-to-back victories after defeating Indiana University Kokomo 103-81 in River States Conference (RSC) action.
  • Tech, currently No. 22 in the nation (NAIA DII), now sit at the top of the East Division (RSC) after Saturday's win.
  • Indiana University East, who is No. 7 in the NAIA DII, slipped to No. 2 in the conference with a record of 10-2 after falling to (RV) Indiana University Southeast Saturday, 104-95.
  • Junior Ryan Atkins helped lead the team to the W with a game-best 27 points on 9-for-17 shooting from the field.
  • Atkins finished a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line and was 3-for-7 from beyond the arc.
  • The Miami, Florida native also had six rebounds, three assists and two steals in 25 minutes of play.
  • Fellow classmate Michael Scott had 22 points including three three-pointers to go with eight rebounds, four offensive and four defensive.
  • Junior Elisha Boone was 8-for-10 from the bonus line towards his 18 points while pulling down eight rebounds, dishing three assists and grabbing two steals.
  • After a 4-for-7 showing from the three-point line, senior Ra'Shaud Kincaid contributed with 14 points, seven assists, three rebounds and two steals.
  • The starter is 9-for-14 from three-point range over his last two contests.
  • Kincaid is holding on to the top spot on the nation (NAIA DII) with a 55.7 three-point field goal percentage.
  • The Cougars were led by Trent Elliot on offense with 18 points while Eric Miller and Durante Lee pulled down five boards each to lead the team.

RIVER STATES CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL
  • WVU Tech was picked fourth in the 2017 River States Conference Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll with 46 points.
  • Indiana University Southeast is the favorite for the upcoming season.
  • The Golden Bears posted a 40-win season at 40-16 overall, 21-7 KIAC to place second in the standings in 2016.
  • Tech reached the conference tournament semifinals.
  • IU Southeast, coming off a season of 43-15 overall and 27-1 conference, received six of nine first-place votes and 61 points in the voting conducted by the nine RSC baseball head coaches.
  • University of Rio Grande was edged out for the top spot in the preseason poll by two votes.
  • The RedStorm received the remaining three first place votes and got 59 points.
  • Point Park University is picked third in the poll with 48 points and they took third place in the KIAC standings last year at 28-24, 20-8.
  • Midway University was picked fifth in the poll with 34 points.
  • The Eagles are a new addition to the conference baseball offerings as a first-year program at the school.
  • Asbury University was chosen sixth in the poll with 30 points and is coming off a season of 22-29, 12-16 KIAC last year.
  • The Eagles are 3-1 so far this year with fall games now countable in the NAIA.
  • Brescia University was tabbed seventh in the polls with 23 points.
  • The Bearcats were 12-43 overall, 7-19 KIAC last year and made it into the final four teams remaining in the KIAC Tournament.
  • Ohio Christian (15-33, 5-23 in 2016) and Cincinnati Christian (3-43, 2-26) rounded out the poll in eighth and ninth place with 14 and 9 votes, respectively.
  • The top six teams make the RSC Tournament, a double-elimination tournament that has the winner qualifying automatically to the NAIA Baseball Opening Round.

LAST MEET
  • Men's swimming celebrated senior Anderson Nagasaki before his final home meet Saturday and defeated Appalachian Athletic (AAC) Conference foe Union College, 130-65 to stay undefeated, 4-0, in dual action this season.
  • Tech kicked off the meet with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay with the team of sophomore Arthur Bertrand and juniors Manuel Serrano Laguna, Geoffroy Gauneau and Jesus Ballesteros after touching with a time of 1:39.04 for 11 team points.
  • The Gold and Blue won the final event of the meet, the 200 freestyle relay, as well with a time of 1:33.33.
  • The 200 freestyle relay team was made up of sophomores Vinicius Rios and Dan Kelly and freshmen Felipe Ruiz and Paulo Ignacio, Jr.
  • Freshman Manuel Laguna Gomez picked up a first place finish in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:01.75.
  • Rios produced a time of 1:51.87 and touched first in the 200 freestyle.
  • Ignacio finished on top in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.43 and the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:13.43.
  • Gauneau won the 200 butterfly after a time of 2:01.70.
  • Bertrand also gave the team nine points from a first place touch in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59.07.
  • Nagasaki placed second in the 100 freestyle after swimming 54.03.
  • Women's swimming competed in front of friends and family on Senior Day as they celebrated Francine Meyer, Janay Wright-Parks and Shannon Wiercioch in the Baisi Athletic Center Saturday.
  • The Golden Bears (2-2) defeated Union College (3-6) 101-85 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) action.
  • Tech kicked off the meet with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay with the team of sophomore Isabela Kiesewetter Zandavalli, junior Kendra Monnin, Meyer and Wright-Parks after touching with a time of 1:56.98 for 11 team points.
  • Zandavalli, Meyer and Monnin all obtained three first place finishes including being part of the 200 medley relay team.
  • As individuals, Zandavalli won the 1000 freestyle (11:43.15) and the 200 backstroke (2:17.53) while Meyer touched first in the 200 freestyle (2:03.55) and the 100 freestyle and Monnin swam for first in the 400 IM (5:02.64) and 200 breaststroke (2:34.73).

  • Celebrated their seniors, Denis Robles, Terry Nance II, Colton Rowe and Giovane Lins during the final home match of the season in the Baisi Athletic Center Saturday evening.
  • The Golden Bears (3-5) dropped the dual to Ohio Valley University (5-0), 39-16.
  • Freshman Leland Swafford wrestled at 149 pounds and defeated Eli Stewart by major decision, 19-7.
  • Junior Bryan Overton earned a fall at 2:32 over Zach Willard at 165 pounds.
  • The final Golden Bear to pick up points for the team was junior Casey Hogg who pinned Ben Willard at 285 pounds (4:57).
  • Nance dropped a hard-fought bout to Tyler Koreski by decision, 5-3.
