Box Score PIKEVILLE, Kentucky -- No. 13 WVU Tech men's basketball tipped off its 2018-19 campaign and the Appalachian Wireless Classic with a 102-64 victory over Ohio State (Mansfield) in Pikeville Friday evening. The Golden Bears will finish out their time at the classic tomorrow, Saturday when they face Kentucky Christian University.
As a team, Tech finished 57.97 percent (40-for-69) from the field while the defense held their opponent to just 36.36 percent (24-for-66) shooting. The Golden Bears also held the advantage in rebounds, 57-21, while forcing 11 turnovers and grabbing seven steals.
Senior
Elisha Boone finished 6-for-10 from the field towards 14 points and a double-double effort with 11 rebounds. Boone also led the team with four assists.
Junior
Tommy Collins poured in 14 points for the Gold and Blue, pulling down five rebounds and dishing three assists.
Freshman
Josh Whelan came off the bench to post 11 points and four rebounds while sophomore
Junior Arrey recorded 12 points, three rebounds and three assists.
Also off the bench was junior
Brent Daniels with eight points and five rebounds while freshman
Corey Hatfield had seven points and seven rebounds.
Ohio State (Mansfield) and the game was led by Ja'Shawn Campbell who had 23 points including a 6-for-10 effort from three-point range.
