BECKLEY, West Virginia -- Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for March 2-9, 2018 were announced Saturday by the WVU Tech Athletic Department. All-Americans senior
Manuel Serrano Laguna (men's swimming) and sophomore
Luke Jobson (men's track and field) headline this week's honors.
NAIA All-Americans awards were presented to the first eight individuals to finish their event during the NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championships and Jobson picked up his fourth nod as an All-American after a second place showing in the 3,000m race walk. The Sydney, Australia native clocked a PR of 12:27.75.
Laguna also gained All-American accolades after finishing third in the 200 Breaststroke with a new school record of 2:05.82. The Toledo, Spain native also helped lead the 800 Freestyle Relay team of
Felipe Ruiz,
Paulo Ignacio, Jr. and cousin
Manuel Laguna Gomez to a sixth place finish, touching at 6:53.30.
As a team, men's swimming gained eight All-Americans total during the national championship while track and field had two Golden Bears earn the honors.
