OWENSBORO, Kentucky -- WVU Tech baseball defeated Brescia University 6-1 in the final game of a three-game River States Conference (RSC) series after falling 7-8 and 2-12. The Golden Bears move to 16-28, 6-15 (RSC) while the Bearcats now hold a record of 12-24, 7-13 (RSC).
Kurt Latocha led the team throughout the series with four RBI after three hits.
Sean Crosby,
Patrick Burke and
Kent Rooklin had two RBI each. Crosby posted six hits and two doubles while Burke recorded three hits and Rooklin had two.
Douglas Pollock ended with a team-high batting average of .714 and slugging percentage of .857 during the series. He had five hits including a double and three runs scored.
Andrew Sharp also scored three runs off of three hits including a double.
Calyb King was awarded the win on the mound after a complete-game and seven strike outs in game three.
Michael Rotenberry threw for 4.0 innings towards three strike outs while
Casey Elbin also struck out three after 2.0 innings.
Zach Eppard retired two Celtics via strikes after 1.0 innings on the bump.
Tech will return to the field Friday, April 19 to begin another RSC series against Ohio Christian University in Beckley, West Virginia.
