EVANSVILLE, Ind. — No. 22 WVU Tech men's soccer exploded for four second-half goals to roll past Oakland City University 6–2 in the River States Conference Game of the Week Saturday afternoon at the Goebel Complex.
The Golden Bears (10-0-2, 5-0 RSC) extended their winning streak to eight matches and their unbeaten run to 12 straight, remaining atop the league standings and among the NAIA's top programs.
Recalde nets hat trick, Sabeh strikes twice
Freshman Julen Recalde opened the scoring in the 6th minute off a feed from Vasco Berardo, then doubled the lead in the 19th minute from Alejandro Aramburu. After Oakland City answered twice to tie the match 2–2 before the break, Recalde completed his hat trick in the 63rd minute to reclaim momentum for Tech.
Freshman Gonzalo Sabeh added two second-half goals (66', 84') — the first assisted by Julian Diaz — while senior Christian Piewe scored in the 75th minute off a second assist from Aramburu.
Offensive dominance
Tech outshot the Mighty Oaks 13–9 overall with an 8–3 advantage on frame. Recalde put four of his five shots on goal, Sabeh finished with two goals on two shots, and Piewe added one on one.
Defensive notes
Senior goalkeeper Luka Felix went the full 90 minutes, registering one save while Tech's back line limited Oakland City to just three shots on target after halftime.
The victory gives WVU Tech its eighth consecutive win and fifth conference victory, maintaining the team's unbeaten status in 2025.
