MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Oct. 4, 2025) — WVU Tech swimming continued its early-season momentum at the WV State Games hosted by West Virginia University, collecting 155 points and a sixth-place team finish in a competitive field that featured NCAA Division I and II programs.
The Golden Bears posted eight personal bests and seven season bests across 26 entries, highlighted by strong performances from sophomores Carmine Bernardo and Oleguer Siscart Muntané, and freshmen Mauro Sanchez Lopez and Lorenzo Silva.

Golden Bear Highlights
Carmine Bernardo (So., Salerno, Italy) led the Golden Bears once again, finishing fourth in both the 100 fly (52.48, PB) and 200 fly (1:56.58) while contributing top relay splits in all three team events. He was Tech's high-point scorer with 37 points.
Mauro Sanchez Lopez (Fr., Spain) tallied 23 points, placing seventh in the 100 fly (54.39) and ninth in the 200 fly (2:11.46). He added a strong swim in the 200 IM (2:08.49) and recorded a personal best in the 200 free (1:53.54).
Lorenzo Silva (Fr., São Paulo, Brazil) impressed in the distance events, earning a pair of personal bests — 10:53.98 in the 1000 free (6th) and 5:14.97 in the 500 free (9th) — to finish with 22 points.
Jose Fernando Perez (Sr., Trujillo, Peru) contributed 10 points and posted a personal best in the 200 breast (2:25.86, 10th) along with season bests in the 100 breast (1:03.11) and 100 free (50.56).
Oleguer Siscart Muntané (So., Barcelona, Spain) notched a personal best in the 100 free (51.44) and a season best in the 100 fly (56.99) while swimming key relay legs.
Bryson George (Jr., St. Vincent and the Grenadines) posted three season bests, including a 1:03.13 in the 100 breast (15th) and 23.52 in the 50 free (23rd).
Sebastian Mathias Morales Tito (Fr., Beckley, W.Va.) recorded two personal bests with 25.49 in the 50 free and 2:26.61 in the 200 IM, while Noah Maniace (Sr., Osceola, Fla.) added a season best in the 100 fly (1:07.53).
Mason Adams (Fr., Chilhowie, Va.) was entered but scratched from his events.
The Golden Bears also placed seventh in the 200 Free Relay (1:31.51), with consistent performances across all relay squads.
