HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — WVU Tech men's basketball faced a challenging road environment Tuesday night, falling 102–52 to Marshall at the Cam Henderson Center in a nationally streamed contest on ESPN+.
The Golden Bears (3–8) were tested against NCAA DI competition in front of 3,587 fans, using the matchup as another measuring stick as they continue to build through the non-conference portion of the schedule.
Jackson Tackett led WVU Tech with 17 points, knocking down 6-of-10 shots from the field and 3-of-6 from three-point range, while adding five rebounds in 31 minutes. The junior forward scored in both halves and continued to show efficiency on the offensive end.
Brandon Moore contributed nine points, going 5-of-7 at the free throw line, and added five rebounds and three assists. Moore and Tackett combined for 26 of Tech's 52 points, anchoring the Golden Bears' offensive production on the road.
Ian Goings chipped in eight points with a pair of three-pointers, while Trayten Woods provided a spark off the bench with eight points on 3-of-6 shooting, including 2-of-4 from deep, along with three rebounds and five assists.
WVU Tech showed resilience throughout the night, matching its 26-point first half with another 26 points after the break. The Golden Bears connected on nine three-pointers, including five in the second half, and received 18 points from the bench.
Defensively, Tech forced 17 turnovers and recorded six steals, with contributions spread across the rotation. The Golden Bears also generated five fast-break points and continued to look for opportunities in transition.
Tuesday's game marked another opportunity for WVU Tech to gain experience against a high-level opponent as the Golden Bears prepare to turn the page toward River States Conference play after the holiday break.
