Golden Bears fall to RedStorm in Beckley

BECKLEY, W.Va. — WVU Tech volleyball fell in straight sets to the University of Rio Grande Saturday afternoon, dropping the River States Conference match 25-17, 25-16, 25-14 inside Van Meter Gym during the program's Cancer Awareness Game.

The Golden Bears (3-20, 2-3 RSC) were led offensively by Ivana Burgos and Aniston Treadway, who finished with eight kills apiece. Nevaeh Wooding added six kills while hitting .250, and Eden Miller contributed two blocks. Setting duties were shared by Addison White (12 assists, five digs) and Anaís González (10 assists, five digs). On the back line, Peydon Smith anchored the defense with 10 digs and also added an ace, while Brooke Daniels tallied six digs. Roxana Vazquez chipped in one ace.

Tech finished the match with 26 kills on .039 hitting compared to Rio Grande's 45 kills on .307.

Opponent highlights

Rio Grande (16-6, 5-0 RSC) was paced by Kelli Stewart with 13 kills and 12 digs, while Taylor Bartrum notched nine kills. Gracie Perkins posted eight kills and five blocks, and Elle McLoughlin directed the attack with 35 assists.
