Golden Bears fall at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods

Men's Basketball

SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - WVU Tech men's basketball dropped a 72-58 River States Conference road decision at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Bears moved to 4-10 overall and 1-3 in RSC play. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods improved to 9-8 overall and 3-2 in conference action.

Junior guard Brandon Moore led WVU Tech with 24 points, nine rebounds and three assists, going 9 for 17 from the field and 4 for 4 at the free throw line. Freshman Trayten Woods added nine points on 4 for 8 shooting, while Jackson Tackett finished with eight points.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods built a 34-25 halftime lead and extended the margin in the second half. The Pomeroys were paced by Taray Howell with 14 points and five assists, knocking down four three pointers. Mike Ajukwa added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Malachi Pearson hit three threes on the way to 11 points. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods finished with 39 bench points.
