BECKLEY, W.Va. – WVU Tech women's basketball closed the regular season on a high note Saturday afternoon, defeating Indiana University East 69-59 on Senior Day and Homecoming inside the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center.
With the win, the Golden Bears improve to 16-10 overall, finishing the regular season with momentum heading into the postseason.
Tech led 19-14 after the first quarter and used an 18-point third period to regain control after IU East briefly cut into the margin before halftime. The Golden Bears carried a 51-43 advantage into the fourth and stretched the lead to as many as 17 points with 7:27 remaining before sealing the 10-point victory at the free-throw line.
WVU Tech shot 23-of-66 from the field and 7-of-20 from three-point range while going an efficient 16-of-18 at the foul line, including 11-of-12 in the fourth quarter. The Golden Bears controlled the glass with a 47-36 rebounding advantage and scored 15 second-chance points.
Golden Bear Highlights
Cadence Stewart led all scorers with 19 points, knocking down four three-pointers and finishing 5-of-6 at the free-throw line.
Jazzlyn Nixon delivered a strong all-around performance with 12 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots.
Alexis Sexton added 10 points and eight rebounds, while Emmanuella Amaefula filled the stat sheet with nine points and a game-high nine assists.
Off the bench, Maggie Boroski contributed six points and six rebounds as Tech's reserves combined for 19 points.

Prior to tipoff, WVU Tech honored seniors Avery Lucas, Alexis Sexton, Jazzlyn Nixon and Emmanuella Amaefula for their commitment and leadership within the program.
