OWENSBORO, Ky. – WVU Tech women's basketball saw its season come to a close Wednesday night, falling 76-44 to Brescia in the opening round of the River States Conference Championship at The Den.
The Golden Bears finish the 2025-26 campaign with a 16-12 overall record after earning a postseason berth and drawing a road matchup with one of the league's top teams.
Brescia built control early behind a strong first half, taking a 19-8 lead after the opening quarter and carrying a 43-15 advantage into the break. WVU Tech continued to compete throughout the second half and found its best offensive rhythm in the third quarter, trimming the deficit with a 15-point period and a perfect 6-for-6 showing at the free-throw line in the frame.
Tech's effort showed up in the hustle areas, producing 10 second-chance points and 16 points off turnovers while forcing 15 Brescia giveaways.
Golden Bear Highlights
Alexis Sexton paced WVU Tech with 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting, knocking down two 3-pointers and going 3-for-4 at the line.
Maggie Boroski added nine points and six rebounds while helping Tech create extra chances on the glass.
Emily Wratchford finished with four points, and Cadence Stewart, Alaira Evans and Addisyn Smith chipped in three apiece. Smith's 3-pointer in the closing seconds capped the scoring for WVU Tech.
Team Totals
WVU Tech shot 13-of-61 from the field and 4-of-16 from three-point range. The Golden Bears were efficient at the free-throw line, converting 14-of-17, and finished with 36 rebounds, eight steals and 23 bench points.

The Golden Bears put together a strong 2025-26 season, finishing 16-12 overall and earning a spot in the RSC Championship field, a major step forward after closing the 2024-25 campaign at 3-24. WVU Tech capped the year with a postseason appearance and continued momentum for the program.
