Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for January 17-23, 2022 were announced Tuesday by the WVU Tech Athletic Department. Junior Isaiha Casto (wrestling)  and senior Gunner Short (men's basketball) highlight this week's honors.

Casto, who hails from Saint Albans, West Virginia, went 2-1 during the John Reece Duals at 174 lbs. The junior scored a 15-2 major decision over Justin Peña of Oneonta and a 9-7 decision over Wilkes' John DeVito.

A native of Proctorville, Ohio, Short led the offense for the Golden Bears, posting 37 points over two games. He also recorded seven rebounds, five assists, four steals and a block as Tech went 1-1 that week.
