Freshman Will Van Hoose has been named a Golden Bear Athlete of the Week for January 20-26, 2017.

Van Hoose finished 3-3 overall last week after competing at the West Virginia Invitational hosted by West Liberty University and a triangular with St. Andrews University and University of the Cumberlands.

The Indian Land, South Carolina native defeated West Lib's Nate Dawson by a 12-4 major decision and won a hard-fought bout over St. Andrews' Argie Burnette by decision, 3-1. Van Hoose picked up his third win by forfeit at 184 pounds.
