INDIANA, Pennsylvania -- Freshman Marcos de Paula Damaso helped lead WVU Tech men's swimming to a 194-34 dual win over Chatham University Saturday afternoon. The men's squad also competed against the host school, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, falling 152-109. The women's team dropped a 87-145 decision to Chatham and fell 40-211 to IUP.

Damaso took first place in two events including the 1,000 Freestyle (9:55.89) and the 500 Freestyle (4:49.34). The Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil native also finished second in the 400 IM (4:20.32) and fifth in the 100 Breaststroke (1:08.41).

Sophomore Paulo Ignacio, Jr. also won two events, touching first in the 100 (58.83) and 200 (2:12.43) Breaststroke while placing third out of nine swimmers in the 50 Freestyle (22.83). Dias also helped the 400 Freestyle Relay team of seniors Jesus Ballesteros, Geoffroy Gauneau and Manuel Serrano Laguna to a top finish with a time of 3:16.47.

Junior Dan Kelly touched second in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 55.73 Saturday afternoon.

The women's top performances included second place finishes from senior Kendra Monnin in the 100 (1:09.72) and 200 Breaststroke (2:30.58) while junior Mariana Loureiro was second in the 200 Freestyle (2:04.25).

The 200 Medley Relay team of Monnin, Mariana Loureiro and juniors Mariara Loureiro and Isabela Kiesewetter Zandavalli earned a third place finish out of six teams, touching with a time of 1:56.58.

The Golden Bears will return to the pool Friday, November 17 for the Magnus Cup in Cleveland, Ohio.
