Roger Hodge has announced that he's leaving his post as the head women's basketball coach at WVU Tech after two years in Beckley. Hodge has accepted a position as head women's basketball coach at Tusculum University in Greenville, TN. This role will allow him to continue his passion for the game of basketball.
Â
Hodge led the Golden Bears to a 32-29 overall record after two seasons. He was named a Most Impactful Head Coach May 2022 for being a current head coach, being in a head role for five years or more and averaging 14Â or more wins per season during his career.
Hodge joined Golden Bear Athletics as a head coach after his time leading the program at College of Coastal Georgia. With Hodge at the helm, Coastal Georgia was the Sun Conference Runner-up in 2019 with 21 wins and holds the school record for all-time wins.
Â
Current Tech associate head coach,
Ashley Brown, has agreed to take over the day-to-day operations of the team moving forward. Brown, a former all-state performer from Summers County, has been with the Golden Bears for the last two seasons as assistant and associate head coach.Â
"We are sad to see Roger leave because he has become such a strong member of our campus community and is a great coach. We know that there are great things ahead for him and for our team under the leadership of Coach Brown," shared Athletic Director Kenny Howell.
