BECKLEY, W.Va. – WVU Tech women's basketball faced a strong Midway squad Tuesday evening in River States Conference play, falling 73-43 at the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center.
The Golden Bears struck first and briefly held a 2-0 lead, but Midway answered with a sustained first-half surge. The Eagles built a 20-10 advantage after one quarter and extended the margin to 40-22 at halftime behind efficient shooting and transition play.
Midway maintained control in the third quarter, limiting WVU Tech to four points in the period to create separation. The Golden Bears responded with improved offensive rhythm in the fourth, shooting 8-of-18 in the final 10 minutes and scoring 17 points, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome in the 73-43 final.
WVU Tech finished 19-of-67 (28.4%) from the field and 2-of-23 (8.7%) from three-point range, while adding eight second-chance points and 19 bench points. The Golden Bears totaled 45 rebounds and recorded four blocks defensively.
