BECKLEY, W.Va. — WVU Tech volleyball came out swinging Friday afternoon, delivering one of its most inspired starts of the season in front of the home crowd inside Van Meter Gym.
The Golden Bears stunned No. 16 Indiana University Kokomo in the opening set, jumping out early and never looking back in a 25–18 win. The nationally ranked Cougars ultimately took the match in four (25–18, 17–25, 10–25, 14–25), but not before Tech made a statement with its grit and energy.
IU Kokomo improved to 21–5 (11–0 RSC) while Tech moved to 4–24 (3–7 RSC).
Golden Bear Highlights
- Aniston Treadway led the way with 11 kills and a confident performance on the left side.
- Nevaeh Wooding was a spark at the net with 7 kills and 2 solo blocks.
- Gabriela Lattu chipped in 3 kills and matched Wooding's net presence with 3 blocks.
- Anaís González dished out 13 assists, with Addison White adding 11 more.
- Peydon Smith paced the back row with 14 digs, while Ivana Burgos (12) and White (11) kept the defense steady.
WVU Tech finished with 32 kills, 31 assists, 7 total blocks, and 54 digs against one of the top teams in the country.

The Golden Bears then hit the road for two straight, traveling to Midway University (Ky.) on Friday, October 24 and IU East on Saturday, October 25.
