Golden Bears stay perfect at home

BECKLEY, W.Va. — WVU Tech women's basketball remained unbeaten at home, pulling away from Carolina University for an 80–63 victory Tuesday evening inside the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center.

The Golden Bears (2–0) broke open a 34–27 halftime game with a dominant second half, outscoring the Bruins 46–36 and stretching their lead to as much as 24 in the fourth quarter. Tech's energy on the glass made the difference, as the Golden Bears controlled the boards 64–50 and turned 17 second-chance points into momentum-building buckets.

Cadence Stewart led all scorers with 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting, including four 3-pointers, while Alexis Sexton notched a career-high 14 rebounds to go with 19 points and three assists for her first double-double of the season. Liz Cadle came off the bench to add 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists, continuing her strong early-season play.

Emmanuella Amaefula directed the offense with eight assists and five rebounds, and Avery Lucas anchored the defense with 10 boards as Tech dominated the paint (30–24) and held Carolina to just 32 percent shooting from the field.
