WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — WVU Tech men's basketball battled on the road Thursday morning but came up short against No. 20 University of the Cumberlands, falling 102–75 in the Cumberlands Classic.
The Golden Bears (1–2) opened with energy and an early lead, but Cumberlands (4–0) found momentum midway through the first half and used efficient shooting to create separation. Tech continued to compete throughout, posting 43 second-half points and generating contributions from across the roster.
Ian Goings delivered a strong, efficient performance with 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while Brandon Moore added 11 points and three rebounds. Freshman guard Graham Orndoff provided one of the day's bright spots off the bench, finishing with 11 points, including a pair of threes.
Junior forward Jackson Tackett added 10 points and three rebounds, and first-year Golden Bear Trayten Woods chipped in eight points with steady defensive minutes.
WVU Tech's bench combined for 41 points, marking the team's highest bench output of the season.
Despite the loss, the Golden Bears continued to show offensive balance — ten different players scored — and the group will have a quick turnaround as they close out the Classic on Friday.
