Koenig picks up two sweeps in EA Sports FC 26 ECAC play

BECKLEY, W.Va. – WVU Tech esports opened its EA Sports FC 26 ECAC schedule with a strong 2-1 start behind freshman Luca Koenig (Otto132708), who earned two match sweeps from the Golden Bear Esports Lab.

Koenig started the season with a 2-0 match win over Wilmington University (DeepakReddy11) on Feb. 2, highlighted by a pair of lopsided final scores. Koenig rolled to a 12-1 win while using Real Madrid, then closed the sweep with a 6-0 victory while playing as Paris Saint-Germain.

WVU Tech faced a tough test on Feb. 9 against St. Clair College (Intensedmessi), dropping the match 0-2. In one game played at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, St. Clair earned an 8-2 win with Koenig playing as Paris Saint-Germain. The second result in the series also went St. Clair's way, 9-4, as the opponent won again while rotating teams.

Koenig bounced back Feb. 16 with another 2-0 match win, sweeping Fanshawe College (konzd). Koenig opened the series with a 6-4 win in a matchup featuring Arsenal and FC Barcelona, then pulled away in game two, holding a 7-2 advantage late (76:54) before finishing the sweep.

About EA Sports FC 26 in ECAC

ECAC EA Sports FC 26 is played 1v1 in a best-of-three match format with six-minute halves and crossplay enabled. Players rotate club selections within the series through ECAC's team submission and ban process, and the winning player must switch to a different team after a win. Matches are played on a neutral field, Soccer Aid is not allowed, and extra time uses a golden goal tiebreaker when needed.

What's next

WVU Tech returns to ECAC action Monday, Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. from the Golden Bear Esports Lab against an opponent to be announced. Additional matches remain on the schedule for March 2, March 9, and March 16 (all 8 p.m., opponents TBD).
