Golden Bears sweep New Haven for third place

BECKLEY, W.Va. – WVU Tech Overwatch closed out its NECC Division VII Northeast season in dominant fashion Friday night, sweeping the University of New Haven, 3-0, in the third place match inside the Golden Bear Esports Lab.

The victory capped an outstanding season for the Golden Bears, who finished with an impressive 8-1 overall record.

WVU Tech controlled the best-of-five series from start to finish, earning victories across all three maps to secure the sweep and claim a podium finish in the regional bracket.

The Golden Bears delivered a balanced and explosive performance across the lineup throughout the match.

Jacob Ferguson (Mezzlo) led the offensive charge, totaling 79 eliminations and more than 34,000 damage across the three maps, including a dominant 32-elimination performance in Game 1 and over 16,000 damage in the final map.

Keith Karwacki (TheWacki1) provided a strong two-way presence, finishing with 54 eliminations while contributing heavily on the defensive side with more than 16,000 damage mitigated during the match.

Trenton Windsor (Warpwo) added consistent offensive production, recording 66 eliminations and over 22,000 damage, including a 29-elimination effort in the deciding third map.

Brahm Kesterson (Brahm) played a key role in the Golden Bears' Game 3 push, tallying 31 eliminations while adding more than 11,000 damage mitigated to help close out the sweep.

Support play remained a major factor in the victory. Logan Oliver (Goomba678) led the team with over 20,000 healing and 50+ assists across the match, while Parker Jarrell (Quiet Otter) delivered a standout performance in the final map with 26 assists and nearly 10,000 healing.

The complete team effort allowed WVU Tech to control the pace in all three maps, securing its second 3-0 victory over New Haven this season.

With the third-place finish, the Golden Bears now await potential postseason opportunities, including the chance to compete on the national stage.
