Box Score RIO GRANDE, Ohio — The WVU Tech women's basketball team lost to the University of Rio Grande in a KIAC match-up 88-60 Thursday evening in Rio Grande, Ohio. The Golden Bears are now 6-10, 1-4 (KIAC) this season while the RedStorm are 11-5, 4-1 (KIAC).
Tech had three players in double figures with freshman
Alexandra Combs leading all scorers with a career-high 19 points. Combs was 3-for-6 from three-point range while also pulling down five rebounds.
Senior
Courtney Fisher posted 14 points to go with four rebounds while freshman
Savannah Shamblin had 12 points and four assists.
Senior
LaKisha Adkins dished a game-high nine assists while producing four points. The guard also grabbed five boards.
As a team, the Gold and Blue shot 24-for-70 (34.3 percent) from the field while their opponent went 31-for-57 (54.4 percent) from the field.
Rio Grande was led by Sharday Baines with 17 points.
The team will return to the hardwood Saturday, January 16 for another KIAC contest when they head to Ohio Christian University for a 1 p.m. start.
